Winters are here in full swing and as much as this weather gets us lethargic and plodding through the day, it requires us to be more cautious of our skin from getting rough and dry. Nobody likes dry skin and the continuous itching. And no matter how much moisturiser and lotion we apply on our body, it still feels itchy at most times, right? What ultimately comes to the rescue is basic home care routine. Here I am sharing a very basic yet effective morning/ night skin care regime that you must follow to have smooth, glowing and moisturised skin throughout winters:
1. Mustard Oil Works As A Great Moisturiser
Moisturising the skin is essential immediately after we get out of the shower, isn’t it? Yet it becomes dry and itchy after a few minutes/ hours no matter the amount of lotion you’ve put all over your body. Guess what, mustard oil is a saviour.
Apply mustard oil all over your body immediately before getting into the shower. It would make you feel less itchy than usual. Then after you’ve taken shower, go ahead with using your daily lotion and feel your skin moisturised throughout the day.
PS: Do not apply mustard oil on the face as that skin is more sensitive than the rest of our body. It may give you a burning sensation, so prevent from applying on face.
2. Vaseline Petroleum Jelly- Works Wonders In Winters
A perfect cure for those cracked feet during winters. Apply as a balm on lips and let it stay overnight to get rid of dry and chapped lips.
Take a scoop on two fingers and apply on the itchy areas or feet just an hour before sleeping. Pull up your socks and let it stay for an hour before you finally hit your bed to sleep. The next morning you’d have smooth feet. Voila! Vaseline also works as a great highlighter on the face.
3. Is There Anything As Moisturising As Parachute Oil? – Best Makeup Remover
Parachute Oil is the best makeup remover, especially during winters. It takes off your makeup in seconds and leaves your skin so moisturised. It’s a great organic way to take your makeup off the face and get that glowing skin.
Oh, I can’t even stress enough about the amazing moisturising properties of glycerin. It although makes you feel sticky for few minutes but it’s worth applying all over the body at least an hour before sleeping (so that you don’t spoil your sheet and covers with the sticky formula.) Your skin would feel so fresh, smooth and glow the next morning.
5. Aloe Vera Gel- For Smooth and Glowing Skin
If you were to ask me, no night creams work for me the way Aloe Vera gel does in keeping my face glowing, moisturised and fresh. Simply wash your face before sleeping, pat it dry with a towel (gently) and apply Aloe Vera gel. Leave it overnight and get moisturised plus glowing skin the next morning.
6. Sugar and Coconut Oil Scrub
Last but not the least is this extremely moisturising homemade body scrub. Take some sugar in a bowl and add coconut oil to it (2-3 tablespoon). Pour few drops of lemon juice and mix it. Now apply this scrub all over your body and let it stay for at least 10-15 minutes. You may want to take a magazine or play loud music to dance on in the bathroom, just to kill time you know, LOL. Shower with lukewarm water after 15 minutes. Voila, you’d have a smooth and moisturised skin that needs no lotion.
So, these are a few ways you can keep your skin moisturised and glowing during winters. If you know of more other ways, do share in the comments section below.
