Pastels have been the trend alert of 2018. From Models on Fashion runways to Celebrities on red carpets, everyone has been carrying the look with class and elegance. The hues of lavender have been the trendiest lately and speaking of pastels, they add a lot of edge and poise to your style.
Last month I celebrated my 25th Birthday and as it was approaching near (and with that I mean, as it was just two days from then), I realized I haven’t given a thought to what I wanted to wear on the Birthday party (which I also hadn’t planned by then, anyway!) :-p
So as has been my last minute destination, Kazo had their all-new spring collection added to their store and boy, it didn’t take me more than 10 minutes to pick up the outfit that I knew would define me the best on the occasion and what I was exactly looking for from so many days. Jumpsuits come in varied styles and this one was modish, trendy and a statement in itself given the color of it, the dramatic sleeves and hey, those pants kind silhouette.
Choosing accessories is another very important yet neglected part of styling. While so many of us focus more on the clothes, accessories if complimented well with the outfit, can take it up a notch subtly. With an overall monotone pastel look, it was convenient to go in either with all silver or gold accessories. I chose the latter, of course, considering it would be edgier.
Now that clothes and accessories are decided, next comes the makeup you’d like to wear with your outfit. I am very particular when it comes to makeup. First of all, I am not a pro at it. All thanks to youtube and beauty bloggers because of whom I have even the slightest possible knowledge of it. LOL! I think over the years we all develop our own most comfort and safest makeup look which we can vouch on during the most important events when there is no room for experiments.
For me, I like subtle with little drama. So for the Birthday evening, I kept my eyes subtle with minimal makeup (can’t do without Kajal and 5 coats of mascara- at least). To balance that, I opted for bold lips and went for a Plum shade.
Lastly, these velvety, grunge pink ankle cuff shoes completed the Birthday look. It’s very important to choose colors from the same family when you opt for monotones and pastels. Unless you have something that adds a pop of color to the look. And remember, a minimalistic look is always classy.
Here are a few more pics because clearly, “self-obsessed” is an understatement…:-p
With that, we complete our first trend-alert post. I am happy to have come up with this sort of an idea to curate looks based on what’s raging and what’s in vogue these days.
