Has your skin been feeling a lot dull lately? The hot weather, the precipitation, humidity takes away the charm and glow off our skin, doesn’t it? And well, not to forget, the daily exposure to the sunlight can leave our skin tanned and/or in some cases burnt. No matter the amount of sunscreens we put on our face, over the days, direct exposure to the sun can lead to tanning and the harmful UV rays suck the glow off your face. Especially if you are out on a vacay, you come back home to a severely tanned body. From a past few weeks, I wanted to give my skin the pampering it needs. I am someone who doesn’t rely on the salon facials. I am more of a home-based skin care regime person. And if you too can relate to this, there is no other better option to a DIY facial at home than a seasonal fruit one. For my salon-like facial at home, I opted for Papaya given its amazing skin benefits-

First of all, fruits don’t have any side effects. It is always a safe option.

Coming to its amazing benefits-

  • Papaya is rich in Vitamin A, therefore essentially nourishes the skin.
  • It helps in removing the dead skin cells.
  • It also keeps the skin hydrated, therefore, giving the glow it needs.
  • It helps in lightening skin tone, therefore a great cure for tanned skin.
  • It gives a soothing effect post application on face.
  • It can cure acne and spots, therefore a great pic for oily skin types too.
  • Papaya is a great anti-aging fruit hence treats wrinkles too.

While you have all set your mind for a DIY salon-like facial at home, always remember this step by step process-

First is cleansing, so begin by washing your face with your regular face wash so that it takes away all the excess dirt.

Next, comes exfoliating. For this step, we begin by scrubbing our wet face and gently massaging the scrub on the face with finger-tips. Don’t forget, the neck is equally important and hence, a part of your face.

Recently I got my hands on Biotiqoue’s Tan Removal scrub that has revitalizing properties and is blended with pure papaya fruit. Biotique, as we know, is an Ayurvedic brand and therefore, I knew I can totally rely on this product, given its natural properties and also that it is absolutely chemical-free making it safe for use.

I massaged this on my wet face for about 5-7 minutes and then washed it away with water. Now after pat drying the face gently with a towel, we come to the last step.

Masking- For this last step, I created a mask at home with the major ingredient being papaya and also used- banana and cucumber. Banana is excellent to make your skin firm and tight and cucumber, as we know, has high water content and is helpful to hydrate the skin. Keep the mask applied for about 10 minutes or until you feel it’s gotten a bit sticky and dry, then wash it away with water.

Last but not the least, apply your regular face cream and voila, salon-like facial at home is done without burning a hole in your pocket and I am sure you will love the glow that your skin gets post following this regime.
