Hey everybody, wassup! So we are now exactly three weeks away from New Year and yes, “like every year”, we wonder how this year passed in a blink of an eye. But to be honest, every year includes countless memories and growth of our personalities. We learn new things, we make new friends, we meet new people and leave few behind. Talking about New Year, I am reminded of one more thing- New Year Resolutions!
We all begin our year making numerous resolutions to ourselves, right? The whole point in making these resolutions on New Year is I believe, the fact that it’s an auspicious beginning of a new period, a new era and a new zone. I guess that’s how it’s always been. We need such beginnings to start something and isn’t it true, we keep pushing our goals to that “New Beginning”. Whether it’s about beginning with a new course, starting a fitness regime or waking up early and so on, we always keep pushing it to the “1st” of next month or “Monday” of the coming week. Well, is it a coincidence, January 1, 2018, falls under both the categories! I am sure that gives you enough reasons to make it an even perfect occasion to make such resolutions and follow them. But do we actually take these resolutions seriously except for the first few days of the new year? I am sure we all tend to move ahead with the year keeping those resolutions “forgotten”!
So I once read somewhere, “It takes 21 days to make or break a habit“. I think if we really wish to take a resolution then NOW is the right time to do so. Since we are almost twenty-one days to New Year- 2018, NOW is the time to start working on those goals if you are serious to continue following them in the New Year as well. See if we make resolutions on New Year for New year, then what is exactly the point? We have already entered the year and so start working on the things that matter to you NOW.
1. Fitness Resolution
Whether it’s a resolution to workout the regressive way by hitting the gym or even a regular habit of walking for half an hour out in the evening, start doing it from NOW itself.
And irrespective of whether you are male or female, especially males, hear this out- Do not depend on your wives, mothers or sisters to cook you your three-time meal. Okay, so they stay at home and you go out to work, but what about the days when they are gone for a few days. Do you really think learning a few basic recipes is that big a deal? Learn to make at least one new recipe daily. Begin it from TODAY itself.
Oh, this one is actually often ignored than preached. More than anything else, if there is a habit you need to form NOW is the habit of being grateful. Yes, take out those 10 minutes from your “oh-so-busy schedule” and whether you say it out loud or in your mind or write in a diary, make it a habit to think of the daily activities or people who contribute to making your life easy and worth living.
4. Time To Wake Up and Go Off To Bed
If there is a time you wish to set for yourself about waking up or going off to bed, set it today itself and start working on it. And yeah, that also means, you can give yourself some in-between relaxations.
5. Habit of Saving
Especially for those in their twenties, this will be hell rewarding to you a few years from now. Make this a habit or regret later!
6. Staying Clean & Tidy
Some may think, is it really necessary to be included here as a habit? But hell yeah! I think small daily habits of making the bed after waking up, keeping things in the wardrobe in their respective places, etc are habits that if done daily won’t pile up and says a lot about you and your personality.
Ohkay so that was a hell lot of “Gyan”, but I honestly find this a lot interesting. Resolutions should be formed now itself to be taken on seriously so that we become habitual when we enter the New Year- 2018!
